Spiced Orange Slices

My plans of course are to can or dry 2 things a weekend all month, but I'll have to make up for only canning 1 thing this weekend. I know it's only Sunday, but I've just had so much other stuff going on this past week that I don't think I can can (haha) anything else. I'll make some cherry jelly sometime during the work week to make up.

The spiced oranges turned out beautifully!

We've been over our average temperature for 23 straight days now and hadn't had rain for 3 or so weeks until a few days ago. 100-103 F with 105-113 heat index.Needless to say the grass is brown and what of it is still green you can't mow because it'll die too. The only things that are surviving are what has been watered every day. Things like impatiens though, watered every day or not, are croaking. Luckily, it rained a few days ago and broke the heat. It's not so bad this weekend, but we still need a lot more rain. Trees have started to turn brown and are prematurely shedding their leaves.

It's silly, but I've never thought to can oranges this way. I only ever think about marmalade. We get so many oranges every year that it would be nice to put some by. Would you share the recipe?
